Dr. Susan Lark creates New Year’s

weight loss plan for women over 40

POTOMAC, Md., December 26, 2002—It is much

harder for women over 40 to lose weight than it was for them in

their 20s and 30s, and the holidays are a particularly difficult

time for many. In fact, recent studies show that Americans average

a seven-pound weight gain each year from Thanksgiving through New

Year’s. Susan Lark, M.D., a women’s health expert who advocates

combining traditional medical protocols with alternative medicine,

explains the medical reasons why and offers an innovative New Year’s

weight-loss plan designed specifically for women in this age group.

According to Dr. Lark, excess weight has more dramatic implications

on women’s self-confidence and relationships than is generally acknowledged,

as well as putting them at risk for a variety of health issues.

Unfortunately, women over 40 usually fail on popular weight-loss

diets, programs and pills because they have very specific nutritional

needs that are not being addressed by the diet industry.

“There are many ways to diet that may help lose weight temporarily,”

says Dr. Lark, “but very often, these programs have a poor

record of helping make the changes that address the real causes

of weight gain—especially for women over 40.” She has

found that excess weight in women is often caused by one or more

age-related chemical imbalances: a sluggish metabolism, which comes

with aging; food allergies, which can cause accumulation of inflammatory

fluids or “false fat;” mood swings, which intensify food

cravings; and disturbances in the signals that regulate appetite.

Her new program addresses each of those imbalances with natural

solutions to:

Boost the metabolism to burn fat and calories

more efficiently

Eliminate false fat and reduce bloating

Regulate the appetite to prevent overeating

Balance hormonal mood swings, which can intensify

food cravings

Lift the mood to enhance the sense of well-being
