Healthy Bones—Preventing
and Treating Osteoporosis

Here’s a frightening thought. A woman is more likely
to die from a hip fracture than from breast cancer. And while there
are a few things we can do to slightly reduce our risk of breast
cancer, there are numerous things we can do to significantly
reduce our risk of osteoporosis and its predecessor disease, osteopenia.
In these bone diseases, the bones become fragile and weak, so weak
that the simple act of pushing open a heavy door may result in a
fractured wrist.
